Impact
Youth Oasis serves more than 100 young people a year. That is only 1.5% of Louisiana's youth living apart from their families because of abuse or neglect — which is why every number here is also an argument for expanding.
What 2024 looked like
Youth Services outcomes
Measured for residents of the Transitional Living Program.
- 85% gain employment within 30 days of entering the program
- 60% receive their high school diploma or complete their GED while in the program
- 85% maintain stable residency after transitioning out of the program
Continuous service since 1998
Youth Oasis has operated without interruption since 1998, and was Louisiana's first LGBTQ+ affirming shelter. The continuum now runs from prevention through response to support: the Diversion Program and Drop-In Center keep families together, Emergency Shelter and short-term housing answer a crisis, and Transitional Living, Transitional Housing and Rapid Re-Housing, and the Maternity Group Home carry a young person into independence — with at least a year of aftercare once a program ends.
