Our mission

To support youth and young adults recovering from the trauma of homelessness and family separation through housing, healthcare, and advocacy.

Youth Oasis has operated without interruption since 1998, and was Louisiana's first LGBTQ+ affirming shelter.

Our programs

Our programs support youth, young adults, and their families through hard situations — and work to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty in our community and across the state. Support falls into three areas.

Prevention

Our Diversion Program and Drop-In Center provide resources, food, clothing, counseling, and healthcare referrals for youth ages 13–25, so families can stay together.

Response

Emergency Shelter and short-term housing for youth ages 16–21, with a bed available the night they need one.

Support

Built around the needs of young people with lived experience of homelessness and at-risk LGBTQ+ youth. Every resident receives at least a year of support after their program ends.
